The mayor of Wellington, New Zealand, was apparently so proud of the new D.Vice sex shop in downtown (with, among other things, its inflatable bondage chairs, fur-lined leather handcuffs, and dildos) that he presided over its grand opening, although he insisted he didn’t know much about the inventory. Two More Wenatchee Witch Hunt Victims Get Relief
On Tuesday, a jury in Spokane, Wash., found gov’t agencies negligent in investigating and prosecuting the 1994-95 satanic-cult child-sex cases and awarded $3M to a wrongly-accused couple. (43 people had been charged with 27,726 counts of raping or molesting 60 children; in the end, there was no credible evidence that a single sexual act took place although several low-IQ-scoring defendants did accept plea bargains in order to get out of jail.) She Was a Busy, Busy Woman
Mr. Justice Bodey of Britain’s High Court has ordered 4 men to take blood tests to determine the father of a 7-yr-old boy. The problem, said the judge in a decision he just released, is that the mother was so desperate at her expiring biological clock that, at the height of her cycle in April and May 1993, she stepped away from her husband and had sex with every fecund man she knew (well, 4 guys in 4 nights), and now one of the men wants father’s rights. (He’s unlikely to be the man, since a sustained series with him earlier failed to produce a pregnancy.) This is one of those “European” things, in that the Convention on Human Rights gives precedence to a child’s right to know who his parents are. [The Guardian, 7-31-01]

Charges Fly as to Who's the Slut: the Girl, 13, or the Boy, 9?
According to a delinquency petition in Milwaukee, the 13-yr-old girl forced the 9-yr-old boy from upstairs to have sex, twice, and was charged with felonies. But then the girl’s mother told the Journal Sentinel that the way she heard it, the 9-yr-old boy is the loose one and has had sex with several other girls. [Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 7-27-01]

Female High School Teacher Says She Made Up for Lost Time.
Kimberly Merson, 24, pleaded guilty in Carroll County, Md., on Thursday to felony child abuse for having sex with 4 pupils, then aged 15 and 16, while she was substitute-teaching at Francis Scott Key High. From a police interview of Merson: “I’ll tell you the truth. When I went to [Key] for the job, I told myself, ‘Don’t work at a high school. It will just be too tempting.” “When I was a teen-ager, I had braces and permed hair. Those kind of boys were not interested in me. Now, I [was] attractive to them.” Merson actually confessed to sex with 9 students, but according to a 1997 state att’y gen’l opinion, teachers can’t be prosecuted for off-campus sex with of-legal-age (16) kids.
